It’s the Italian Renaissance in the Republic of Venice, and the Carnevale di Venezia has been made an official celebration leading up to Lent. Come join us for a day full of games, frivolity, mistaken identity, and courtly intrigue.  Join a team of fighters, puzzle solvers, and gamblers to help find an assassin before they can strike and unravel the plot of who would orchestrate an assassination attempt.

It is said that Carnival started as a celebration of victory against the Patriarch of Aquileia, Ulrico di Treven in the year 1162. People gathered in San Marco Square and started dancing. It was celebrated every year until it became official during the Renaissance.

This year's masquerade ball theme is the Lion and the Fool, the lion representing Venice and the fool representing the tradition of the Feast of Fools.

THEMES

and

CONTESTS

As mentioned, the theme is a masquerade ball during Carnival. Handmade masks are more than welcome, and please: don't feel as though you should dress as an Italian. It's a masquerade ball, and you can come as a Varangian if you like.

The colours are red and gold, the very colours of Venice herself. We also encourage you to bring your banners to help decorate the hall and lend an air of visitors coming far and wide to attend the ball.

Best Mask Contest

The masks can be made from a variety of materials, from plaster to paint. The masks do not need to be Venetian, but they can be made in the manner that would be typical of what a Viking or Prussian would use to create their masks.

Best Table Decoration Contest

Keep in mind the theme and colours of the masquerade
